About us
The Team
The Herald and Heart Team is small, but beautifully put together...
30 years and counting…
2022 saw the 30-year anniversary of the founding of Herald and Heart.
From its humble beginnings in a little Battersea backstreet, to the international fashion stages, films, TV, theatre, magazines, and hundreds of outlets around the world. It’s been a hell of a ride!
We have now completely settled in our Rye High Street building, catering exclusively to our own shop customers.
Herald and Heart millinery is still made in our own studio, allowing us to maintain our very fussy quality control.
As well as our own label hats and accessories, our shop carries items from other suppliers, carefully chosen to maintain the individuality one would expect when visiting Herald and Heart.
There’s more to us than just occasion hats!
Everyday headwear for men as well as women is for sale alongside accessories, cards and ideal gifts.
You will be surprised at our prices. We pride ourselves in bringing great products that look far more expensive than they are.
We offer gentle advice and help to install the confidence that is sometimes needed to carry off the hat, especially for the less experienced hat wearer.Come and see for yourself!
There is always a friendly someone on hand to help and advise you on deciding the best hat for your occasion.
We pride ourselves on making your visit as easy as possible. We take onboard your requirements, style of outfit colours. Furthermore, we assist you to judge what best suits you, considering your role in the event and the appropriateness of the particular hat for the occasion.
We offer gentle advice and help to install the confidence that is sometimes needed to carry off the hat, especially for the less experienced hat wearer.
Tracey Mogard
Miss Tracey has been one of our country’s top milliners for more than 30 years. Insisting on wearability, balance of design and technical integrity has made Herald and Heart hats sought after around the World. Having a deep passion with a laid back feel keeps the job seriously joyous, which reflects within the collections.
Ken White
With a background in fashion photography and styling, Ken joined Herald and Heart in 1992 initially to photograph that Summer’s collection. Unfortunately, he wouldn’t leave. He now runs the back office of the business, although he will sometimes be found asleep in front of his computer.
Emma Caister
Our Emma heads up our retail activities. She joined Herald and Heart from a career in fashion retailing. She also has extensive workroom experience, so her skills with needle and cotton come in extremely handy! Miss Emma has a great sense of style and is very good when it comes to guiding madam to the most appropriate of headwear.
